The math behind every max-buy price<\/h2>\n

  1. Grade odds from the PSA population report.<\/strong> What share of graded copies came back a 10, a 9, an 8, or lower.<\/li>\n
  2. A haircut on the 10s.<\/strong> People only submit their best copies, and you\u2019re buying from listing photos, so we assume your copy gems less often than the pop report shows. For sets before 2017 the cut is much deeper: the copies graded in the last year gem at about a twentieth of the all-time rate.<\/li>\n
  3. What the slab should sell for.<\/strong> The chance of each grade times what that grade sells for, from recent sales.<\/li>\n
  4. Minus every cost.<\/strong> Grading fee for that value tier, shipping both ways, and eBay\u2019s selling fee.<\/li>\n
  5. Leave room for profit.<\/strong> The max-buy price still leaves a 25% return and at least $15 on the table.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Why most chase cards don\u2019t make the list<\/h2>\n

    The famous cards are priced efficiently: the raw price already bakes in the chance of a 10. Buying them at market and grading usually loses money once the fees are in.
